I am passionate about how competent young children are. Until 2006 I taught five-year-old children in their first year of school (in New Zealand children start school on their fifth birthday). In 2006 I was one of 10 educators awarded a Ministry of Education funded e-Learning fellowship. I chose to investigate the ICT knowledge that children start school with, and whether teachers use this knowledge in planning their teaching/learning programmes.
I am currently one of six facilitators working with teachers on the Ministry of Education funded Early Childhood Education Information Communication Technology Professional Learning Programme (ECE ICT PL). I am employed by Core Education, a not-for-profit educational research and development company based in Christchurch, New Zealand.
